Where Should You Live (Astrocartography)
The places on Earth where your planets shine brightest, ranked across more than 2,000 cities for love, career, money, home, health and spirit.
What astrocartography is
Astrocartography (also called astro*carto*graphy or locational astrology) takes your birth moment and asks: at that exact instant, where on Earth was each planet rising, setting, overhead or underfoot? Each answer is a line on a world map. Living, working or travelling near a line is said to turn that planet's volume up in your life.
What you'll discover
- Your world map with every planetary line: rising, setting, zenith and nadir
- Your top cities for love, career, money, home, health and spirit
- Places to approach with care, where challenging lines cross
- How your chart changes in any city you tap, the relocation chart
- An analysis of the city you live in now
The four kinds of line
| Line | Where the planet was | Strongest for |
|---|---|---|
| Rising (ASC) | On the eastern horizon | Self, energy, how you come across |
| Setting (DSC) | On the western horizon | Partnerships and close relationships |
| Zenith (MC) | At the top of the sky | Career, reputation, visibility |
| Nadir (IC) | Directly below your feet | Home, family, roots |
Each of the ten planets has all four lines, so a full map carries forty. A Venus MC line is classic for a career in art, beauty or diplomacy; a Jupiter rising line for confidence and luck; a Saturn IC line for a home that asks a lot of you but builds something lasting. Influence is strongest within a few hundred kilometres of a line and fades with distance.
Themes and the city ranking
Choose a theme and Astrool ranks more than 2,000 major cities by the lines that support it: Venus and Moon lines for love, Sun, Jupiter and MC lines for career, Jupiter and Venus for money, IC and Moon lines for home, and so on. The numbers on the map match the list, and places where difficult lines cross are flagged separately.
If you lived here: the relocation chart
Tap any city to see your relocated chart: the same birth moment, recalculated for that place. Your planets keep their signs, but your rising sign and the houses they fall into change. A move that puts your Sun in the 10th house tends to bring you into public view; one that moves Venus into the 7th puts relationships in focus.

Common questions
How accurate does my birth time need to be?
As accurate as possible. Every four minutes of error moves the lines roughly one degree of longitude, around 100 km at the equator.
How close to a line do I need to be?
Influence is strongest within a few hundred kilometres and fades gradually with distance.
Should I move based on astrocartography?
Use it as one input among many. It describes how a place might feel and what it may bring into focus, not what will happen.
What is the difference between astrocartography and a relocation chart?
Astrocartography draws planetary lines on the world map. A relocation chart recalculates your houses and rising sign for one specific city.
