Physiognomy (Face Reading)
The tradition of reading character from the face, especially Chinese mian xiang, which maps features to life areas.
The three zones
| Zone | Area | Traditionally linked to |
|---|---|---|
| Upper | Hairline to eyebrows | Early life, intellect |
| Middle | Eyebrows to nose tip | Middle years, will, career |
| Lower | Nose tip to chin | Later life, home, stability |
Features
Chinese face reading also studies the five features: eyebrows, eyes, nose, mouth and ears, each linked to an element and an area of life. It is a cultural tradition, not a science, and should never be used to judge people.
