Antardasha (Bhukti)
The nine shorter chapters inside every dasha, showing what comes to the front for months or a few years at a time.
Definition
Each mahadasha of the Vimshottari system splits into nine antardashas (also bhukti), in the same planetary order, starting with the mahadasha lord itself. Their lengths are proportional: in a 19-year Saturn dasha, the Saturn–Saturn antardasha lasts about 3 years, Saturn–Sun about 11 months.
The main period sets the overall theme; the sub-period shows what comes forward now. Astrologers go further into pratyantar (sub-sub) periods for precise timing, and rectification uses them to test birth times.
