Composite Chart
One chart built from two: the midpoint of each pair of planets, read as the relationship's own personality.
Definition
For each planet, take the midpoint between its position in person A's chart and in person B's. Do the same for the angles. The result, the composite chart, is not either person's; it is the relationship treated as a third entity.
How it differs from synastry
| Synastry | Composite |
|---|---|
| Two charts overlaid | One merged chart |
| How each person affects the other | What the relationship is like as a whole |
| Aspects between charts | Aspects within the composite |
A composite Sun in the 10th describes a couple with a public role or shared ambition; a composite Moon in the 4th a bond centred on home. The composite is one of four tabs in Birth Chart Compare.

Astrool calculates your full birth chart, not just your sun sign, and writes your daily, weekly and monthly readings against it.
Common questions
Can I make a composite chart for friends or business partners?
Yes. It describes any relationship, not just romantic ones.
Is the composite the same as a Davison chart?
No. The Davison chart uses the midpoint in time and space; the composite uses midpoints of positions.
