Descendant

The point setting on the western horizon at your birth, directly opposite the Ascendant: the qualities you look for, and often meet, in other people.

Descendant

Definition

The Descendant (DC, DSC) is the degree of the zodiac that was setting in the west at your birth. It is always exactly opposite the Ascendant and forms the cusp of the 7th house.

What it describes

Where the Ascendant is "me", the Descendant is "you": partners, close collaborators, open rivals. Its sign describes the traits you are drawn to, frequently the ones you express least yourself. An Aries rising is often attracted to Libra-like grace and diplomacy; a Virgo rising to Pisces-like softness.

In synastry

When someone's planets fall on your Descendant, they often feel like "your type". This is one of the contacts the Birth Chart Compare report looks for.

Common questions

Does the Descendant need a birth time?

Yes, like the Ascendant it depends on the exact time and place of birth.

Is the Descendant my soulmate sign?

It describes qualities you seek in partners, not a single sign you must marry.
